Want to help?

Are you interested in joining our team heading into Haiti?  We are going to go July 28 - August 8.  There are many opportunities that God gives us when we get out of our comfort zones.

If God has put an urge into your heart to go to a mission trip, you should trust in him and go!  I can't tell you how much of a love for Haitians, and the blessed land of Haiti, God has given me.  I had never imagined that I would have had such a love for Haiti.  I can't seem to quit thinking about it.  The happiest time in my life has been serving our King of Kings in the Grand land of Cap-Haitien, Haiti.  You can experience this same love and blessing from God.  Just check and see what places your church will be serving in the near future.  Just pray about it and God will lead you where to go.

I have been to Haiti three times now.  My first trip was in Sept. of 2005.  Our team of twelve had the opportunity to be the first team to start on the new seminary OMS is building.  During that trip we built a concrete floor for a generator house.  After that we blocked the walls, built trusses, and roofed the building.  This building would be the first of ten.  We also had the opportunity to start the block wall around the entire seminary site.  During our trip, we also taught three VBS classes to young Haitian children.  Playing with the Haitian children had to be one of the best times I have had while serving in Haiti.  They are so much fun.

My second trip into Cap-Haitien was in January of 2007.  During the year we had been gone, many teams had come in and helped continue to  build more buildings and the perimeter wall.  The wall and entrance gate had been finished.  Wow, did it look good.  God is so awesome.  There were also three new buildings blocked and needed roofing.  They had also poured all the floors for all the rest of the buildings.  So during our stay our team of 14 had the opportunity to build all the trusses for the two houses and the work shop.  We also helped dig and install the water, electric, and sanitary sewer services for all the buildings.   We also had a chance to teach VBS for three days while on our trip. Our team also was blessed by having the time to meet our Starfish Kids that we sponsor for the year.  This pays for two meals a day and their education.  What a blessing that was to actually have the opportunity to meet the children.

This last trip was in January of 2008.  Our team of 10 went in and and continued work on the Seminary.  WOW! That is all I could say when I first arrived at the Seminary site!  They had accomplished so much in a year.  The houses were done and being lived in and all landscaped.  The generator house and shop were finished and landscaped.  There were two buildings blocked and ready for trusses and a third ready for the second floor to be poured.  It was simply unbelievable.  So you guessed it, we built trusses for one building. We started trusses for a second building, but unfortunately we ran out of material to finish the second one.  God had it all planned out, we had enough time to install the trusses on the first building.  During this stay we also had time to help with electrical work at the radio station.  It was nice to visit our kids again too while we were there.  Speaking of children, the Lord gave us time to teach VBS again.  Three days of anointed time we spent with these precious children.

If this sounds like something God has put on your heart, follow what your heart is saying and get out of that comfort zone and trust God!  If God hasn't called you to missions, would you still pray for our precious missionaries in Haiti?  God has asked us to pray for one another and our missionaries need our prayers and support!  Thank you and God Bless!     Darin
